  • Overview

    Apothecary Products (APL) is currently seeking a Sourcing Specialist to join our team.  The Sourcing Specialist develops & implements sourcing and supply strategies within assigned complex or critical commodity categories that support the Company’s growth, profitability, working capital and continuity of supply objectives.  The ideal candidate will have experience in food ingredient, supplements, cosmetics, or all-natural/organic ingredients sourcing. This role will also perform internal demand analyses, risk analyses, supplier selection & on-going evaluation; RFQ’s, negotiate prices, stocking programs & commercial terms that optimize the profitability of the Apothecary Products, LLC (APL) while appropriately managing risk.

    Responsibilities

    In this role the incumbent will:

    • Closely collaborate with internal cross-functional teams (Marketing, Customer Marketing, Supply Chain Planning, RD&E, etc) to understand Company sourcing needs and select best suppliers to achieve long-term goals while focusing on reducing total cost of ownership (TCO), total cost to serve APL customers, and continuity of supply.
    • Lead supplier evaluation, selection, and integration associated with RFP’s, RFQ’s, negotiations, initial unit forecasting and product phase-in purchase orders prior to delivering a clean hand off to the Supply Chain Planning team responsible for managing steady-state supplier replenishments.
    • Manage supplier performance; prepare and hold business reviews with stakeholders to review supplier performance, future opportunities and/or challenges, and develop a forward-looking plan.
    • Travel requirement: minimal, with the ability to travel internationally once per year and domestically twice a year.

    Qualifications

    We seek applicants with these critical skills and experience:

    • Experience in food ingredient, supplements, cosmetics, or all-natural/organic ingredients.
    • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, supply chain, engineering or related field; consideration given to equivalent experience.
    • 3-7 years’ experience in a Sourcing, Procurement or Manufacturing/Production environment, of which at least 3 years is sourcing or procurement experience.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of MRP, supplier management, category/commodity management, strategic sourcing, negotiations and contracting concepts.
