  • Overview

    Apothecary Products (APL) is currently seeking a Product Development Project Manager to join our team. The Product Development Project Manager plans and leads the progression of Product Life Cycle Management (PLCM) and Continuous Improvement (CI) projects, ensuring that cost, performance and timeline deliverables are being achieved. This role works collaboratively with stakeholders from other functional groups, both internally and externally, by providing project management knowledge and support to the project team, providing solutions to obstacles, and escalating as necessary. The ideal candidate will have at least 1-year experience project managing the launch of new products within a manufacturing environment and training in continuous improvement techniques.

    Responsibilities

    Essential Duties + Responsibilities:

    • Serves as project manager of a multifunctional team to drive new product development activities from concept to post-launch.
    • Manages successful completion of project stage gates and related activities required for the projects to comply with the company ISO 13485 / GMP compliant design and development process.
    • Communicates effectively with internal and external stakeholders to help build strong relationships to ensure project success.
    • Maintains the project history and technical file.
    • Develops positive working relationships with stakeholders and project teams to drive change in a positive manner by managing constraints such as timelines, scope, cost and resources.
    • Builds, maintains and controls the project schedule highlighting dependencies & critical path.
    • Organizes and facilitates project team and design review meetings, develop meeting agendas, issue meeting minutes, and track action items to completion.
    • Ensures projects and project teams are properly set up, team roles and responsibilities are clear, deliverables, risks, and mitigation plans are identified and documented.
    • Ensures on time delivery of programs by actively monitoring all key project metrics, taking action to resolve or escalate issues that impact quality, cost or schedule in a prompt manor; escalates to Director, Project Management as needed.
    • Identifies and manages technical and operational project risks.
    • Negotiates skillfully with minimal support in tough situations with both internal and external groups; settles differences while minimizing adverse impact to project deliverables.
    • Facilitates and manages cross-functional continuous improvement projects to ensure successful pilot, training and implementation.
    • Utilizes APL’s best practice project management tools and templates to effectively drive project execution.
    • Offers new ideas to support fulfillment of department goals and procedures to Director, Project Management for continuous improvement, quality control, safety, and company profitability.
    • Other duties as beneficial to APL. 

    Qualifications

    Competencies:

    • Education: BA/BS or equivalent experience preferred
    • Required Work Experience: Minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience with at least one (1) year of Project Management experience in a Product Development, Manufacturing, and/or Distribution environment.
    • Preferred Experience: Previous Project Management Experience in Manufacturing
    • Previous New Product Development Experience
    • Certification or other education in Continuous Improvement techniques
    • Travel Requirement: Less than 5%

     

    Critical skills and abilities:

    • This position requires an individual who is a self-starter and can work independently managing multiple cross-functional team, business processes and/or projects in tandem.
    • Ability to achieve results by influencing in a cross-functional matrix environment.
    • Effective ability to communicate using clear and concise oral and written communication and presentation skills.
    • Verified experience operating in a fast-paced business experience with demonstrated effectiveness in a small company/location working tactically.
    • Must have strong ability to collaborate, build, and maintain strong relationships with Team Members across all functions; strength in winning concessions without damaging relationships.
    • Ability to be direct and forceful as well as diplomatic.
    • Understanding of APL’s new product development and product life cycle management or ability to quickly learn.
    • Ability to manage multiple cross-functional teams and business processes simultaneously.
    • Ability to deliver programs on time and on cost.
    • Ability to present and work with all levels of team members.
    • Results-oriented and quality-focused and possesses an appropriate sense of urgency and attention to detail in managing multiple cross-functional projects simultaneously.
    • Proficient with MS Office applications including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook and Visio. Proficient with Smartsheet or ability to quickly learn.
    • Willingness to continuously learn and be open to feedback to improve individual performance.
    • Must have strong ability to collaborate, build, and maintain strong relationships with Team Members across all functions.
    • Must maintain safe maintenance practices and adhere to safety requirements.
